Modern infrastructure, high standard hotels, language skills and competent national hosts; Oslo is the country's winning City of the international congresses.
Text: Therese Olavsrud - Meetings, conferences and experiences in Today's Business 24 March 2010
Most conventions require a national host for the Congress to be invited to a destination. The City’s Convention Bureau VisitOSLO have expertise on how communities can apply for and win the international conventions, "says Anne Wallin Rødven, Congress Director. Oslo has, in the international context, a large number of academic and research institutions and there are Norwegian members of the 7500 international organizations. A part of Norway's most important academic and research communities are assembled in Oslo. - Only a handful of Norwegian members of international organizations have so far been hosts to international conferences in Oslo. The feedback from the conferences held in Oslo is very positive.
Convention with quality. VisitOSLO has a well-organized machine locally. The availability of Oslo is also becoming better, through a growing network of direct flights to Gardermoen. - Many people tell us that the changing seasons in Oslo is special. Moreover, they get a leisure offer that few other capitals can compete with. Oslo is full of paradoxes. Visitors perceive the capital of Norway as exotic, exciting and rich in experiences, whether they come for business or as tourists.
Intimate small town and vibrant metropolis. Some will enjoy a sumptuous meal at one of the city's Michelin restaurants, others want a sweeping recovery with dog sleds in the Oslo adjacent forests - Norwegians should take a look at his capital with foreign eyes. There is no reason not to have meetings, event and conferences here. Oslo is both a small town and metropolis. Besides opening the geographical location between sea and land for many activities, the Congress Director adds.
More want to Norway Lillestrøm
After the Norway Exhibition and Convention Centre – Norges Varemesse moved to new premises at Lillestroem in 2002, several professional conferences buyers at home and abroad selected Norway Convention Center as venue for their meetings. June 2010 is a good example, "says Hege Løkke Johannessen, Congress Manager at Norway Convention Centre.
In addition, an increasing number of large, prestigious corporate events are taking place at the Venue, covering product launches, large dinners, chain exhibitions and conferences.
Can take 6000 participants - Together with the Thon Hotel Arena, located next door, we offer 55 large and small meeting rooms, the largest with the capacity of more than 6000 delegates in plenary session. When all the meeting rooms are in use, more than 25,000 square meters are available for exhibitions. "said Johannessen.
