Event organizer, Norges Varemesse, today announced details of NEREC (www.nerec.no), the most important renewables conference and exhibition in Scandinavia, which will once again take place this year in Lillestrøm, near Oslo, Norway, on 28-29 September. NEREC 2010 is organised by Norges Varemesse in close co-operation with OREEC (Oslo Renewable Energy and Environment Cluster).
Norwegian companies have long been recognised as leaders in the development of renewables technology and services, which are core to some of the most prominent projects in Europe and around the world. NEREC will provide the opportunity for businesses and individuals to come and learn more about these projects and to benefit from their in-depth technological and commercial competence.
The event looks set to become the essential meeting place for anybody operating in the renewable community, bringing together a conference, exhibition and social events at the one time. It will gather politicians, opinion formers, researchers, business leaders, environmental organisations, press and other key industry players to discuss, network and learn from each other about the most important developments in Europe’s burgeoning renewables sector.
Commenting on the launch of the event programme, Elisabeth Schulze, project manager for NEREC, stated: “This is the third straight year that we have run this event and it is now gaining a momentum that makes it one of the most significant dates in the diary for the renewables industry. By coming to NEREC, attendees will get the opportunity to meet with some of the sector’s most notable players and hear about its latest developments and direction.
“The conference itself, moderated by former CNN financial editor, Todd Benjamin, will explore issues from all of the renewables industry’s key disciplines – from solar and wind power, to biofuels and hydro,” said Schulze. “At the same time attendees will be able to learn about the ‘Scandinavian way’ that acts as a beacon to other regions in terms of renewables development. This is an event that nobody can afford to miss.”
As well as focusing on technologies and solutions, a large part of NEREC will be dedicated to the financial and policy imperatives of the industry. Recent statements from DnB NOR Bank, among others, have stated the growing significance of the renewables industry to Scandinavia – likening it to the region’s shipping sector – and NEREC will be seeking to explain how companies both inside and outside Scandinavia can take advantage of the opportunities available.
Alongside the prestigious conference, there will also be an exhibition where many of the industry’s largest and most innovative companies will be displaying their latest products.
NEREC 2010 has a particular emphasis on the Scandinavian renewables market, given that the region has long been a hotbed for renewable energy solutions and technologies. It is, in fact, home to some of the largest companies in the renewables industry, and a great majority of these take pride in their ‘green global developer’ status.
The event will be an opportunity for companies looking to team-up with R&D organisations, start-ups and equipment sub-suppliers, as well as with Scandinavia-based energy producers developing innovative projects around the world.
Einar Kvalheim, projects director at Norges Varemesse, concluded: “As NEREC continues to develop each year, we believe that it is helping to align Scandinavia as the leading location for the development of the renewables industry. In time, we fully expect NEREC to make the same impact on this sector as Nor-Shipping has on the maritime industry.”
